Welcome to Computer Town! Our mission is to try and build the largest archive of vintage Macintosh software (Mac OS 1.0 - 9.2.2) in the world! In addition we have built a large collection of rare and popular Apple products with the goal to document and preserve this important part of our history. We aim to tell the stories that may not be known that tell us how we got to where we are today. Apple has had such a huge impact on how our world is shaped, and we want to make sure history remembers where modern life came from. Please enjoy our site and videos and let us show you all the ways that Apple has changed the world!

What Macs and hardware do we use to test software?

In our collection we have; Power Macintosh 8100/100av with a G3 upgrade, Power Mac G5 Dual 2GHz, Power Macintosh Server G3,Macintosh SE, Macintosh Classic II, Performa 631CD, PowerBook Pismo G3, MacBook, Power Macintosh 6100/66, Quadra 610, StyleWriter 1200, Apple QuickTake 200, & More small stuff.

Where is all the software?

We are working hard to catalog, test, and validate everything in our collect. We do not want to post bad software that will not help you to preserve your Apple products. We have recently posted a collected an archive of the vintage Apple.com support downloads to out FTP site. You can get to this from our home page. Please let people know about this ftp site as many people struggle to find these items. Feel free to ask us if you are looking for something special and we will see if it is in our collection. Have something interesting? We would love to hear from you!

Can you mirror my site?

We carfully look for older sites that are in danger from being lost forever, like Zone6400. Our mirrors are chosen carfully in the interest of preserving important vintage data that may be invaluable. We have wanted sites like Nekochan for SGI products go down and dissapear forever, taking with it a treasure trove of information. The loss of that particular site could mean that the barrier to entry for new SGI hobbiests is just to high. We want to make sure that doesn't happen with vintage Apple product sites. If you have a site or know of a site that might be important to the preservation of Apple product history, please reach out to us.
