Welcome to Computer Town! Our mission is to try and build the largest archive of vintage Macintosh software (Mac OS 1.0 - 9.2.2) in the world! We thought long and hard about what the best delivery method for this archive should be. In the end we decided to use Hotline Connect. Hotline is a client/server based bbs style peer to peer system. It allows us to share files, post news, chat, and instant message our users. This platform was optimized for file sharing and we believe it is the best platform of its kind. The major reason for choosing this platform is its ability to be used across vintage and current systems. There are hotline clients available for almost every known operating system. At the same time it allows us to contribute to the hotline community that is slowly fading into obsolescence. We felt that using a platform that was native to the classic OS was a must. Our users can access the files they need on the platform they are using. While web browsers are a great tool, they lack the ability to create community and provide consistent user experiences. We hope that you will visit our hotline server and help us build the best community for vintage macintosh enthusiasts in the world.
